A Heritage Walk

40 students along with Ms. Anuarora and Ms. Manpreet Kang had gone on a heritage walk to Abdul Rahim Khan-i-Khana's tomb which was organized by the Indian express group. The tomb is one of the rarest monuments in Delhi situated near the Humayun tomb complex in central Delhi. We were accompanied by a guide who told us about the tomb. Rahim was among one of Akbar's 9 gems (courtiers) who wrote couplets based on Lord Krishna as Akbar's wife, Jodha, worshipped him. Rahim built this tomb to bury the dead body of his wife and later his own corpse was placed there. The tomb faced many distortions during the reign of Safdarjung. Stones from this tomb were taken out to make Safdarjung’s tomb. The guide also told us the nuances of Mughal architecture and many other interesting facts about not only this monument but many other famous ones too. In a nutshell, it was a very interesting and a knowledgeable tour and made us realize the value of these monuments and why it is necessary to preserve them.
